WINiT Case Study

Partnering to Create Leadership Development Opportunities for Women

Opportunity

In 2015, active WINiT Member and Ambassador, Nancy Medoff, recognized a natural partnership opportunity between WINiT and the Institute for Health and Human Potential (IHHP). IHHP is a global research and learning company that specializes in helping organizations and leaders leverage the science of emotional intelligence and performing under pressure. In her role as Director of Sales, Northeast Region for Marriott International, Nancy had been collaborating with IHHP to deliver leadership development training to sales executives within her company. As two organizations committed to education and fostering professional development and growth, IHHP and WINiT agreed to come together to discuss how they might collaborate to make a greater impact on the lives and careers of women. Nancy’s intuition was spot on and a partnership was solidified in 2015.

How WINiT Partnered

At the core of the partnership is a shared passion for fostering personal and professional development. IHHP’s research and subsequent training programs offer impactful, high quality career development resources that WINiT strives to provide its Members. WINiT Members represent an influential network of potential clients as well as an ideal audience with which to conduct research.

The timing of the start of the partnership could not have been more opportune as it coincided with the completion by IHHP of extensive multi-year research on topic of pressure: its impact on the human brain and proven strategies and methods for coping with pressure in order to achieve success. WINiT coordinated a group of its Members to serve as one of the first audiences to receive the curriculum developed from IHHP’s newly released research and New York Times bestselling book, Performing Under Pressure. IHHP received valuable feedback on the content and delivery, and WINiT Members received exclusive access to IHHP’s proprietary training and tools.

“We recognized an immediate synergy between our organizations as we are both intensely focused on solutions that create real changes in the way people work and live,” commented Bill Benjamin, Partner, IHHP. “The level of engagement by WINiT – in our work and content – has inspired our work, which I think is real testament to the value WINiT delivers to its Members and the partnership.”

Benefits Realized

The partnership has continued to flourish, creating new opportunities for both organizations. In the summer of 2016, IHHP generously delivered an educational session in conjunction with WINiT Annual Summit 2016. The training session, Performing Under Pressure: The Science of Emotional Intelligence, provided WINiT Members with practical strategies to respond to pressure and complexity without letting emotions lead to unskillful behavior and poor decisions. IHHP Partner and Senior Research Consultant Sara Ross delivered the session and facilitated an executive panel comprised of five WINiT Members. The audience feedback on the IHHP led session was overwhelmingly positive.

To support IHHP’s research efforts, WINiT helped IHHP facilitate a survey of its Members prior to the Educational Session at the Annual Summit. The research gathered from this survey contributed to IHHP’s Women Under Pressure initiative and white paper.

WINiT and IHHP plan to maintain and grow the partnership. The WINiT network has opened the door for new business and research opportunities for IHHP, and WINiT and more of its Members will continue to benefit from access to IHHP’s exclusive educational programs and tools.

“Our partnership with IHHP really exemplifies the power of what is possible when two organizations with complimentary goals come together to make a goal a reality. We look forward to continuing to work with IHHP to create valuable resources, tools, and experiences for professionals we serve,” said Dawn Repoli, Executive Director and COO, WINiT.
