Does Coaching Make a Difference?
Gwen Robinson, Coaching Coordinator, IHHP.

We've all encountered them-skeptics who scoff at the concept of coaching, claiming it offers little value in exchange for a client's time and money. At IHHP, we believe that our EI coaching program truly has the power to change people's lives for the better. Apparently, our clients do too. "Prior to my sessions, I would have placed myself in the "skeptical" category re the value of personal coaching. Having gone through four such sessions, I can understand why many executives find such coaching valuable as they move along in their careers." Jan/08 "Okay," you may be thinking, "coaching may help some people to improve their professional relationships, but is it really making a difference in their personal lives?" "The coaching has been very helpful, especially in my personal life. It has enabled me to deal with stressful situations much more effectively." Jan/08
Maybe you're even willing to concede that IHHP's coaching program has helped effect positive immediate change in many lives, but, you wonder, are these people truly impacted for the long haul? "Fantastic experience that continues to help me months later!" Jan/09 So ... does our EI coaching program make a difference? "It has revolutionized the way I interact with both people at work and at home. No other course I have done ... has impacted me more in a positive way, both personally & professionally, than this course." - Aug/08 You bet it does! Upcoming Complimentary Webinar: IS STRESS WORKING
FOR YOU OR AGAINST YOU?
The New Brain Science of Stress and Sustaining Performance
Research is clear that, for many people, performance diminishes over time. Most blame it on stress. Most happen to be wrong. Performance increases, not decreases with stress. Most people have a mistaken understanding of, and relationship to, stress. Either they run from it and find themselves in unchallenging jobs - which causes their brain to shrink, literally. Or they don't have the tools to deal with the tension that occurs in important relationships or in the midst of great uncertainty. The result: their performance diminishes, their negative impact increases and their brain, again, actually shrinks.
In this webinar, we will highlight new research that helps us understand how to change our relationship to stress so that we can use it to sustain performance over time and change our brain!
Presented on April 2nd 2009 12:00pm - 1:00pm EST with Q&A to follow.

EQ and Education
Recent internal research conducted by IHHP that focused on Emotional Intelligence and its familiarity among educators revealed the following:
- 98% of those who responded believe that identifying the emotional state of their students is important to them as an educator
- Only 52%, however, have had any kind of training in EI
- 68% of educators surveyed believe they have the ability to promote both emotional and intellectual growth in their students
- 65% surveyed believe that addressing the needs of individual students is their biggest challenge, followed closely by an overload in course work and behavior problems from students
- 47% of those who replied feel they have not been given adequate training to handle these everyday challenges
- 48% of educators surveyed across North America do not believe that current curriculum covers the necessary skills that students need to be successful in life
IHHP would like to thank those educators who completed our survey. The information we are gathering is assisting our Youth Department in the creation of training programs for both educators and youth to address the issues that have been expressed. The End For Now
Everywhere you turn you hear words describing the current economic downturn: "unprecidented, challenging, stressful, crisis...." You have a choice over how these words impact you. There are many people out there who realize that hard times can create new opportunities. Utilize stress in a positive way to challenge and drive yourselves toward growth. As Albert Einstein said, "In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity." Try finding the opportunity in your difficult time!
Sincerely, |
